The Case For Reading

A whole host of things come to mind...

"Just what kind of insurance policy must the city have on this park?"

"How big are we talking here?"

"Numbers? I mean, has there been a census?"

"Where's the nearest emergency room?"

"Does anyone else think this is a really, REALLY, monumentally bad idea?"

These things and lots, LOTS more run through the mind of a mama when she sees this sign, not 20 yards from a playground, with nary a fence post between:

The Case For Literacy

My boy though, my boy who can now read, has only this to say, "Wow. Too bad nobody taught the ducks to read."

Best case for literacy I ever heard.

Hah! Love your son's statement!!! Who will save the ducks??

Yeah, city planning at its worst. Wow.

Wow, really? They just live in the lake and can wander around? That would seriously freak me out, I'd be eying up the monkey bars making sure I could get high up off the ground! Where do you live that alligators roam freely!?

OMG I can't stop laughing....of course the inside mama is terrified but...the ducks!

Oh man oh man oh man oh man.... Honestly, do not approach or molest them?! Is there any danger of anyone -- human or duck -- thinking they might just get up close and say, poke an alligator with a stick? Wow. Maybe I'm a smidge less jealous this morning. We have no alligators in our ponds...

Have you seen an alligator there?

oh, the ducks, the poor poor illiterate ducks.

I'm sorry, but that is probably the funniest thing EVER! Okay, maybe not ever, but goodness, what an idiotic idea indeed.

Laughing so hard I almost spit out my tea.

That is hilarious! So nice of the ducks to pop into your shot for you!

have your boys read the "click, clack, moo" stories? those ducks read. :)

Ha! That is just, well, priceless. Poor stupid ducks. (Wouldn't it have been awful to witness a mauling? Or maybe boys like that.)

That's indeed a story that's funny when told. Though I would have felt the same way were I in the situation.

Someone from South Florida is reading this and laughing :) Your son's response was awesome.

This would scare me too pieces. I had no idea there were alligators in texas.

hehe. I love how OR MOLEST is in bold. What an empathetic boy you have!

LOL Only a little boy would say that. I can hear the same words coming out of my son. Did you have to bite your lip to keep from laughing at him? To funny, but why in the world would they put a playground there? Budget cuts?

Out of mouths of babes. i just loved it.
