I'm not saying everyday... just, you know SOMEtimes, when the late afternoon whining hour has arrived, and my wild banshees are still running full tilt, their poor mama needs a little something to set the spark plugs to firing again.
Enter the iced coffee. My boys call it a "mama smoothie."
Amen, brother. It does indeed smooth Mama out a bit.
The benefits of the iced coffee are two-fold:
First, there's the boy-energy expending pounding of the coffee cubes. (My, but they do love this step. They're like little mallet-wielding coffee pushers, "Mama, don't you feel like having a mama smoothie yet????")
Then, there's the swift and delicious caffeine injection that makes possible the late day crunch.
A few frozen cubes of left over coffee (about 8 - maybe more), pounded to oblivion, a cup of milk (maybe less), and a little sugar (or honey) tossed in the blender, and the afternoon is golden.
Scratch that, the afternoon is velvety brown, delicious and satisfying.
Good to the last drop.
